All NSW JP's must be listed on the Public Register.   Legislation changed a short while ago, and the Government introduced an exam which all JP's must now take every 5 years with a 100% accuracy.   Many JP's decided not to take this exam and its possible their registration has lapsed, sometimes without their knowledge.  As a result, these people may no longer be registered and will be committing a serious offence if they act in the capacity as JP whilst not registered to do so. Additionally, any documents that have been process by this person may be invalid.    You can check if a person is a registered JP by following these steps as outlined here.  Click this link to see the method
